BNP Paribas Cardif and BNP Paribas French Retail Banking launch educational online insurance simulator to help people better protect their families

BNP Paribas Cardif and the retail banking network of BNP Paribas in France have introduced a new personal protection insurance simulator. This innovative application meets an essential need by making individuals better aware of the importance of protection insurance, in addition to their existing savings assets.

An educational application that addresses concerns of French clients

Some 66% of French adults[1] express serious concerns about being able to ensure financial protection for their families against unplanned events such as job loss, sick leave, disability or death. While many plan for life contingencies by saving, only 50% of the French have an individual protection insurance policy1. This gap can be explained by a lack of knowledge regarding protection solutions available, coupled with a reticence to think about complicated or painful situations for individuals and their families.


Personalized simulation to better assess protection needs

The new simulator, called “Ma Découverte Prévoyance” (“Discovering my protection needs”), is an educational online application that performs a personalized simulation of protection cover in just a few minutes. Users see their current level of protection – taking into account both compulsory and supplemental insurance schemes – as well as the type of policy they should subscribe to guarantee protection aligned with their actual needs. The simulator generates a cost estimate that allows clients to then easily purchase the recommended cover via their BNP Paribas account advisor.

This tool addresses two important needs:

-provide clients with clear information available in just a few clicks, with complete anonymity and no obligation.

-provide BNP Paribas advisors with an easy-to-use application that lets them calmly discuss protection insurance with their clients, possibly in conjunction with savings solutions.

An innovative initiative to educate clients about protection cover that has already proved effective

“Ma Découverte Prévoyance” is a simple, intuitive and rapid application that follows an innovative and convivial process. Teams from BNP Paribas Cardif and BNP Paribas French Retail Banking created the simulator in just three months thanks to an agile project development approach. The project centres on continuous improvements, integrating feedback from trials to drive ongoing enhancements and thus tailor it precisely to client needs. The simulator has already met with an enthusiastic response: nearly 20,000 clients have received a personal diagnostic of their protection insurance needs since “Ma Découverte Prévoyance” was launched in June.

“Protection insurance should be viewed in a positive context, just like savings. When people take out protection insurance they are anticipating unexpected events to guarantee the financial health of their family,” notes Benoît Gommard, Retail Networks Director of BNP Paribas Cardif.
